Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/21901552 A new twist on the old classic, starting at Harwood (Southern HS) instead of Davidsonville and taking Polling House rather than Harwood to Patuxent River Road, and ending by heading south on Owensville Sudley and Nutwell Sudley to Nutwell, then back north on MD-2 and Old Solomons Island Rd to S Polling House. 1958' of elevation gain.
Weather: 65 at the start, sunny, breezy-to-genuinely windy, 70 by early afternoon. Fewer clouds than yesterday, so it would have been warmer were it not for the wind, but still thoroughly delightful.
Mishaps & mechanicals: nothing worse than a dropped chain
This route features a start with a nearby restroom (and no need to drive Rt 50), a rest stop at Davidsonville Park at mile 13, a trip down to the water in Galesville (after all, what's the point of going to Galesville if you don't actually go to Galesville?) and a new return on Nutwell and South Polling House. It's been a long time since the old South River Market in Galesville closed, but it looks as though Home Port Wine & Spirits next to the restaurant at the end of Galesville Rd is branching out and hopes to become a deli. Right now they have drinks and snacks and plan to add sandwiches soon; with a portolet down at the usual old-time location and the park is as lovely as ever, I think it's time for the Galesville rides to go back to Galesville. I'm very happy with this route, and will lead it again.
