2/14 - Best of Brandywine: Aquasco - CC - 33 miles

Thu, February 14, 2019 10:30 AM | Jim Hudnall (Administrator)

Leaders: Jim and Jane Hudnall

Members: Patricia Sanders, LaTasha Banks, Joan Oppel, Tom Short, Alan Kurzweil, Steve Palincsar, and Sam Perry

Route: From North Keys Park we headed east on North Keys to Molly Berry, then right on Baden Naylor to a left on Baden Westwood. Down Croom to Aquasco and to the Little Store. After a break, followed Dr. Bowen to Iowa over to St. Peter's Church to Cedarville Road, then Ashbox, Brandywine, Gibbons Church and back to the park.

Weather: A cool 46 degrees at the start but warming up to 52 by the finish. Some clouds and sun.

AMS: 12.8 mph and up

Mechanicals/Mishaps: LaTasha dropped her chain on Dr. Bowen and it got caught behind the gears.  Joan came to the  rescue and got her bike back in working order quickly. Again on St Peter's Church Road, LaTasha stopped to see why her bike was giving her so much trouble and a sore knee. We all made it back with LaTasha heading off to the Bike Doctor for some repairs.

Report: It was a pleasant winter day for a bike ride. The faster riders went ahead with everyone regrouping at the rest stop. The Little Store makes a good rest stop with hot coffee, chairs inside and picnic tables outside. We were hoping to see Jack Hammond, who lives in the neighborhood, but he was unable to come today. Steve did a couple of short cuts and met us at the rest stop. Donero Gardner arrived late for the start, but finished the ride as we were driving away.
