Leader: Ron Altemus
Members: Jackie & Randy Schoch, Roger Cubbage, Robin Garnett, Donaro Gardner, Jane & Jim Hudnall
Route: Indian Head Rail Trail from Livingston Road parking lot to White Plains and return. Don, Jane, & Jim also rode on to St James Episcopal Church and back.
Weather: Overcast, temps in the upper 40s, light winds out of the NE
Report: none of Thursday's snow remained on the trail or surrounding grassy areas except for a few very small patches prior to Middletown Road. Mattawoman Creek continues to run high and there are many sections where water covers the ground along side the trail. We saw a number of other users including runners, walkers, cyclists and one bald eagle.
The OHBTC bench adjoining the Hudnall's bench near mile marker 8 now has a slat reading "In Memory of Calvin E Conyers." We posed for pictures which can be seen on the club's Facebook page.
Following the ride, the majority of us when on to St James Episcopal Church for their Friday Fish Fry. The church will be having these every other Friday through March and then the first two Fridays in April. A tasty and enjoyable meal of fried whiting, potato salad, cole slaw, hush puppies, and one of Tom Peterson's cookies, all for $12. A great reason to join us for the Friday IHRT ride.
NOTE: beginning March 1, we return to a 10 am ride start time from the Livingston Road parking lot.
