Weather: Warmest day so far this year. It was already in the high 50's when we started and climbed to 75 by the time we finished. Blue sky and sunshine with a light breeze.
AMS: From 15 for the faster riders to 11 at the back. 1900 feet of climbing!
Mechanicals/Mishaps: Jim had to use a cartridge on a tire that was going flat but made it back without changing it. He later found a microscopic piece of glass in the tire, after her got home.
Report: The warm weather brought out 13 cyclists. The group quickly divided into small packs with everyone finding someone interested in a compatible pace. No mater what the speed, everyone enjoyed being out in the bright sunshine and fresh air. The spring peepers, horses grazing in fields and buds on the trees all announced the season is changing for the better. While taking a break at Merkle, we talked to Park Manager Danny Jones who is looking forward to hosting the rest stop on the Patuxent River Rural Legacy Ride in June. The picnic area behind the Nature Center has been redone and will be ideal for the rest stop.
