Ride leader: Steve Palincsar

Members: Joan Oppel, Pat Walthers, Jim Hudnall, Jane Hudnall

Weather: sunny, 50s -- warmer than the forecast (max was predicted as 51, was at least 56 by late afternoon) but my goodness were they wrong about the wind, which was supposedly going to be 18 mph (at our backs) at the start, dropping down to 13 mph by the time we would be riding into it.  Actually, it was more like the reverse: not too windy when it was at our backs, much stronger at the end of the day when we were riding right into it.

Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/334470  37 miles, starting from Northern HS on Chaneyville Rd, heading north to Friendship with a rest stop at Sweet Sue's in North Beach, then riding through Chesapeake Beach and following Old Bayside, Dalrymple, Hardesty, Ponds Woods, Plum Point and Cox to a rest stop at Bowen's Deli in Huntingtown.  After a tasty lunch, we went through Lower Marlboro and up Flint Hill back to the school.  RWGPS thinks this route has 1420' of elevation gain, but that's bogus.

Mishaps & mechanicals: the only mishap worthy of note was Janell's mistaking Oak Ridge Park for Northern HS, having read Brad's AA listing.  We missed her.  Otherwise, it was a lovely day, with the same low traffic that Brad encountered in Charles & St Marys.

AMS: 10.8

But if she was arriving in time for my 10:45 departure, you would have already started by the time she got to the park.

You young kids are amazing. (I had an ACL knee tear in Jan, recovered better than expected so far, but will be sticking to even more flat routes locally, for better part of this year, once I finally get out.)
