Leader: Ron Altemus
Members: Belinda Acre, Donaro Gardner, John Early, Jane & Jim Hudnall
Route: starting at the Livingston Rd parking lot, we rode west towards Indian Head and then u-turned to travel east all the way to White Plains. We did a straight shot back to the parking lot
Weather: mostly sunny, temp range of 46-50, winds out of the WNW. We had a delightful tailwind to White Plains but not as intense a headwind as forecast on our return.
AMS: swept at 12 mph
Report: at 10 a.m., Belinda and the ride leader were the only members present. We decided to ride towards Indian Head, into the wind, to see how challenging the day might be. As previously mentioned, the winds didn't seem to be as severe as forecast (predicted gusts of 30-40 mph), so we rode all the way to the IH trail head and headed back, figuring we would do the entire trail. Right after Arthur Ross, we encountered Jane, John, and Don. John had ridden from White Plains, meet Don at the parking lot, and said he hadn't seen any club members on the trail. Jim and Jane then showed up, everyone figured Belinda and I had ridden west, so off they rode to eventually meet up with us. The tailwind riding east was great, and again, the headwind coming back wasn't that bad. Not a lot of other trail users - only one cyclist and assorted runners or walkers. Item of note: running water has returned to the now unlocked facilities at the White Plains trail head.
Since John had started at White Plains, we bid him a farewell there. For lunch, the rest of us went to St James Episcopal Church for their Fish Fry. Very well done and quite tasty! We're planning on going again on April 5 and April 12 after our Friday IHRT ride. Join us for some good eating!
