Brandywine Across the Wind

Sat, March 23, 2019 4:35 PM | Joan Oppel (Administrator)

Leader:  Joan Oppel

Members:   Ron Altemus, Jane & Jim Hudnall

Route:   Down Martin, circle to Van Brady, Duley Station to Croom, St Thomas to Merkle. Return via Nottingham/Tanyard (with encounter of British army marching through), Baden Naylor to Candy Hill, North Keys and return via Cross Road Trail & Cherry Tree/Indian Head.

Weather:   Very sunny, bright blue sky, temperatures mid-40s to low 50s.

AMS:  probably 12 something

Mechanicals/Mishaps:   none

Report:   Chilly as usual in the North Keys parking lot, but immediately after turning left on North Keys Road, the air felt much warmer. At the end, I asked one of the riders to assess the ride (in case I could possibly be biased....) and the answer was - a really lovely day, wind was not much of a factor, a few areas where a head wind was felt but the majority of the ride was not impacted by the wind. And, I would add, the tail wind sections were serious fun. Forsythia, daffodils, bright blue and I could hear the spring peepers: all good signs.
