3/24 - Laurel Grove to Chaptico - CC 24 mi

Sun, March 24, 2019 11:00 AM | Walt Roscello (Administrator)

Leader: Walt Roscello

Members: Sharon and Chuck Miller; Harry Kidd

Guests: none

Route: From Baggett Park down Morganza Turner Rd, Doctor Johnson to 238, then Hurry Rd and a return due north on 242 and Laurel Grove

Weather: 50 at start, 60+ at end.  I didn't see any of the predicted clouds; I think we had 100% sun.

AMS: didn't check, but a comfortable CC

Mechanicals/Mishaps: we adjusted Sharon's derailer so she could get into all the gears before tackling Hurry Rd.

Report: This was the right distance and day for our first-of-year riders.  No offense to our ride coordinator, but today "start(ed) the season right".  It was a great day for a ride. I didn't realize how much I missed getting out in the fields and forests - and sun - during winter.

Morganza has the cutest little Post Office, it's the size of a single trailer and sits alone in a field ( https://photos.app.goo.gl/LP2dg7YaTbF3Q2hi6 ).  We also encountered a field with Clydesdale horses, which some stopped to admire longer.  We stayed intermingled with Steve's group until the split, then enjoyed the sunniness and favorable wind direction of Rt. 242 to Laurel Grove Rd.  All had an enjoyable ride.
