This route gives pool tables a run for the money, with least 30% of the total elevation gain due to speed humps.

This ride was billed as a meandering tour of waterside neighborhoods, and it lived up to its billing and then some. We had little trouble following the route even though the cue sheet has 3 1/2 columns of cues -- well, there were a couple of missed turns here and there replaced by other turns just as nice, but nothing resembling "lost" -- until we turned onto Steamboat Rd, heading for the Chesapeake Yacht Club. All was well until we somehow found ourselves Lerch-ing around in all the wrong places, quite turned around.
This isn't the first time I've lost the plot in that neighborhood, but once again, a bit of blundering around soon led us back on course, safely out of the labyrinth without having seen the Minotaur. But this time I know where we went wrong: it's that pesky Oak.
We turned on it the first time we saw it, at the north end heading south, when we should have followed the coastline around to the far end and headed north. It's funny how much more sense the directions make when the map is right side up.
Of course, that doesn't explain why the GPSs remained silent throughout.
