We started to lose some riders off of the back on Spring Hill-Newtown Rd. but everyone was still pretty much in sight of each other until the hill on Route 6. On the hill on Route 6 the group split some more with the lead rider first up the hill and with a chase group of 3 with a serious chance of catching. They caught the lead rider but not until late on Bowling Rd.
The group was together from the end of Bowling Rd. until the hill on Budd’s Creek Rd. The lead rider pulled away on the hill; a chase group of 2 wasn’t too far behind at the turn on to Route 301. The lead rider and the chase 1 group remained in sight of each other until the end of the ride. At times it appeared that the chase group would catch but it never happened. I was really impressed by the effort and performance of the lead rider in keeping away from the chase group for so long and without help.
Here are the ride statistics I have:
Lead: 22.0 MPH, 1 rider
Chase 1: 21.6 MPH, 2 riders
Chase 2: 2?.? MPH, 1 rider
Chase 3: 20.7 MPH, 2 riders
The remaining riders mostly came in as singles. It didn’t seem like there was much delay between the arrival of the lead rider and the last rider. Everyone is getting faster!
It was an another fun ride.
