Route: Indian Head Rail Trail from Livingston Road parking lot to White Plains and return
Weather: mostly overcast with the sun trying to break through at times, headwinds of 10-12 mph no matter what direction we were pedaling, and temps in the upper 60s to low 70s
Report: Our group was augmented by Diane's crew riding from the Accokeek Firehouse, so we had a good number of riders at the start. As always, everyone broke up into smaller groups finding the speed that suited their cycling style. Almost all of us regrouped at White Plains before once again breaking up, with a few riders peeling off and heading home at various points on the return. Not a lot of other trail users, perhaps scared of the rain that didn't materialize until way after our ride was completed.
Several wildlife sightings of interest: Vicki saw a black snake that she claimed was as long as the trail is wide; Jane and Jim saw a much shorter black snake. Susan and Fran saw a bald eagle while Belinda saw a turtle. And one lone fisherman had caught a snakehead in the pond at Bumpy Oak.
Ten of us that started at Livingston Road had lunch at the St James Episcopal Church fish fry. It's been good in the past, but today was particularly tasty!
