Five members joined me on this ride that takes us from the Accokeek Firehouse to the start location for the weekly Indian Head Rail Trail ride, ~ 10 miles away. This adds 10 miles and 1 climb to the front end of the IHRT and 11 miles and more climbing (including the rollers of Chapman's Landing Rd and Barry's Hill) to the back end. Riders included Randez H, Theresa R, Sam P, Karen M, and Michael D, who rode from his home to our ride start and was going to continue to Cobb Island for a high mileage day of 100 - 120 miles! Marshall Hall Rd is the climb on the way to Livingston Rd and it always gets our legs warmed up. We met up with the other group then all headed to the White Plains end of the trail where we rested, ate, had fluids, talked, and got ready for the ridea back. On the return we saw cows fairly close to the trail, turtles, and a fisherman whose catch included a snakehead fish. He said they made for good eating. We made it back to the firehouse with no issues. Fortunately the predicted rain didn't start until we were getting into our cars to head home.
