Tue, April 16, 2019 10:00 AM | Ron Altemus (Administrator)

Leader:  Ron Altemus

Members:  Patricia Sanders, Larry Peed, Alan Kurzweil, Karen McMillan, George Chiamulera, Jackie & Randy Schoch, La' Tasha Banks, Jay Lewis, Pat Walthers, Tom Short, Jane & Jim Hudnall, Sam Perry.  And visiting briefly at Bryans Road, Darryl Lowery prior to heading over to the Bike Doctor in Waldorf.

Guests:   Kenneth DeGraff, staying for the week in Accokeek and cycling from there to join us.

Route:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26630223  32 miles, 1332' elevation change.  Outbound we rode Bumpy Oak, Rose Hill, and Chapel Point to a rest stop at St. Ignatius.  Onward via Chapel Point/Bel Alton Newtown, Fairgrounds, St Marys, Glen Albin and Oak to supposedly a second rest stop at the La Plata Dash-in.  Final leg traversed MD-6, Quailwood, Hawthorne, and Livingston.

Weather:  a cool low 50s start rising to the mid 60s by ride's end with a bit more WNW wind than advertised, all under sunny skies.

AMS:  swept in the mid 12s.  Others were much faster.

Mechanicals/Mishaps:  La' Tasha had a flat on Hawthorne just before Mattawoman Creek.  Sam Perry adroitly fixed it.  Thanks, Sam!

Report:   Lots of friends joining the CC regulars today so it is assumed there were plenty of small groups riding at paces that met their cycling style.  We did all meet up at St Ignatius and the ice machine is in good order.  There was no rest stop at the La Plata Dash-In as the driveways were under repair with areas of fresh concrete making it hard to enter the store.  Thanks to all that came out today!
