This was a late posted ride so I was glad when Sue emailed me that she was planning to come. It turned-out that she was the only other rider but I always say a ride with more than the ride leader is a successful ride.
We obviously rode together throughout the ride. Sue keep apologizing for slowing me down but this wasn’t the case; today was one of those days I needed someone to keep me from being lazy. We both had ridden long rides in the wind the day before so perhaps we needed to egg each other on.
It started to sprinkle at the bottom of our loop to the south – I guess that was the 20% chance of rain the forecast was talking about. The roads started to get wet but then it gradually stopped so the rain wasn’t any big deal.
Sue pushed us to pick-up the pace on 301 north since her computer showed us below an AA pace. She was somewhat sad that we didn’t make the cut until I told her that I had an 18.0 average. Her computer must really read low because I know from experience that my computer is almost always the lowest of any in a group. So her efforts were not in vain – we made the bottom of the AA/3 range which was exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for joining me Sue; I really needed the extra push!
