Leader: Brad Francisco

Members: Brad Francisco, Sue Estes, Tom Roberts, Michael Blaine, Rob Golding, and Phil Mitchell.

Guests: George Wilson, Demetris Taylor, and Carole Harris

Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29754670 out of Cosca Regional Park

Weather: Low 70's, light winds, overcast at the start

AMS: Something close to 18.0 for the group, 17.9 for the leader. I should round up!

Mechanicals/Mishaps: Rob Golding lost a water bottle on the rough roads at about mile 12. He said not to wait and went back to retrieve it. By the time that the rest of the riders found out about it, he was back with us.

Report: This was a ride that didn't seem ready to happen this weekend, but the weather gods took pity on us and gave us a really nice day to ride.

The potholes and patched pavement made the ride interesting. Also several bridges are higher than the roadway. I hit one very hard. Good thing that you can't get a pinch flat with a tubeless tire!

At Merkle Wildlife center we made a pass by the Visitors Center. Their parking lot was almost full but it was before the regular opening time, so we didn't stop. Two of the riders skipped that loop and were caught a little ways down the road. About that time the trusty ride leader thought it best to again drop off and pace himself. Another rider dropped off and our riding styles were totally incompatible, but we kept each other in sight.

We stopped at McGruders Landing, kind-of. Most of the riders stopped at the gravel road. Three of us went down the gravel road and then rejoined the main group. After a bit of a rest we were on our way. Water was running low so the plan was to stop at Baden Community Center. At the left out of the Landing onto Croom Rd, I noticed as the rest of the riders passed me that one was missing. I waited further on down the road (before the next turn) and rode with that rider to the community center and then onto WaWa. We stopped at the community center for ice cold water (the rest of the riders were not in sight) and to talk to a family unit hanging out at a picnic table. Low and behold as we were waiting at the traffic light to get to the WaWa, the missing riders joined us. They had stopped at a store instead of the community center.

We rode as a group until the dreaded Thrift Rd. All the riders went at their own paces up Thrift and drifted into the parking lot within a minute or so of each other.

Thanks to all that came out, with a special thanks to Barb Haney for making this happen.

PS: When signing in, if I can't see how your name is spelled it might be wrong in the ride report. But if I can't read the phone numbers, I can't contact you during the ride or reach the emergency contact. Not that I needed to today, but one member didn't provide an emergency contact and two guests plus one member need to practice their handwriting.

Thanks for all! I masochistically enjoyed it very much. How was my handwriting?

Sue, you may not believe it I could actually make out all the letters and the numbers in yours.
