Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29861614 a Mike Bivens original, modified by CC leader Ron A for more mileage Weather: pleasant temps 70s-low 80s, but seemingly 99 percent headwind (!) that whipped up the pollen and caused some discomfort. Par for the course in these early season rides.
Mechanicals/Mishaps: Tom R arrived at ride start with a rear flat, which he fixed and was able to start on time. At the Dash In rest stop he then discovered a front slow leak that took some time to repair due to valve stem issues.
We made time at the start to celebrate Leader Ron A’s imminent birthday, presenting him with a card and singing to him. Festivities over, on to the ride: an A pace group formed early and rode together to the Dash In at mile 20. We were met there shortly by the B group. The B riders left the rest stop while we were dealing with the mechanical, and we didn’t see them until the end. The A group actually short-cutted the route, opting to go straight up Bumpy Oak, thus ending with 36 miles, while the B riders stayed faithful to Ron’s intentions. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day, pollen excepted, and the chance to climb the Three Hills.
