Leader: Ron Altemus
Members: Jim Hudnall, Harry Kidd, Karen McMillan, Joan Oppel, Theresa Rowell, Pat Walthers
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29861614 39.5 miles, only 1,052' elevation change. Outbound on Barrys Hill, Mill Hill, and Middletown over to a rest stop at the Dash-in on US-301/Marshall Corner. Return via the IHRT, Pomfret up to Marshall Corner, down Bumpy Oak to the IHRT again, and up Livingston as a finale.
Weather: blue skies, green trees - a visual delight. Temps started in the low 70s, finished in the upper 70s, maybe 80, with low humidity. Winds were predicted to be out of the SW quadrant, but seemed to be all over the place. And there was a bit of pollen in the air to lodge in one's throat.
AMS: swept at 12.9
Mechanicals/Mishaps: none known
Report: Originally, this was a Mike Bivens' route, I believe, totaling 31 miles, so it was extended and another hill thrown in with the climb on Pomfret. Karen and Theresa rode ahead of the main CC contingent (Jim, Harry, Joan, Pat, and your faithful correspondent) and we didn't see them again, figuring they were with the Bs. Highlights included crossing the creek on the lower part of Barrys Hill and attaining the highest elevation in Charles County on Mill Hill. Those thrills aside, it was another day of enjoyable cycling in Southern Maryland.
