Report: A group of six OHBTC cyclists met at the Park and Ride on Oxon Hill Road and rode to a pit stop at Potomac River Waterfront Park and then across the Wilson Bridge to a pit stop at Market Square in Alexandra. At the first pit stop, we each were given an aqua Bike to Work Day t-shirt, a bandana, a light weight back pack and other items. Coffee, donuts and snack bars were available as well as samples of hot sauce. We continued on to Alexandria where booths were set up by different organizations and free samples were also available. In Alexandria, we saw club members Troy Eddy and his friend Tony, as well as Ron and Trina Taylor, owners of the Wheel Nuts Bike Shop, who were maintaining a booth. Because of other commitments we headed back to Oxon Hill. On the bridge we saw Janell Sanders biking to work. You don’t have to work to enjoy Bike to Work Day. It’s a fun day to be out riding, seeing other cyclists and enjoying the freedom of moving on two wheels. This event is sponsored by Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association.
