This ride was planned to coincide with Christ Church's annual Strawberry Festival.  It has always been a popular ride in the past, with a rest stop/food stop at the Festival.  This year Belinda and I set out from Baggett Park toward Chaptico.  Unfortunately, the combination of heat, lack of riding time, and physical and psychic drains resulting from dealing with the death of my father last week, took their toll.  I had to stop after about 5 mi. and call for a sag.  Belinda soldiered on with a cue sheet and was well on her way to Chaptico when we located her.  She met up at the festival and took the opportunity to buy some fresh strawberries; but common sense prevailed and she accepted the suggestion to sag back to the place where the route meets up with the Three Notch Trail.  We got back on the bikes for a pleasant, SHADED ride back to the park.

I think there was another rider who arrived at the park after we had left.  He passed me as I sat on the side of the road, waiting for my sag.  He didn't stop or mention that he was with the ride, although I did catch sight of him at the Strawberry Festival, and again out on the road.  Sir, if you see this, I hope you enjoyed your ride.  Maybe next year we'll be able to ride as a group (with cooler temps and more riders).
