Took Bull Road to Brenton View back to Bull, Joe Hazel Road to Fitzie Marina for a second stop. Followed MD-234 to Manor and Hurry Roads to the Chaptico Ice Cream Shop. Back on MD-238 to MD-5 to Three Notch Trail and back to the school.Weather:
Ideal. 70's to 80 degrees, low humidity and bright sunshine.
Karen M. got a stick caught in her gears which snapped a cable. Fortunately Bob Howell and Jim were able to tie it off so she could continue the ride. Sue's large gear was not cooperating and causing trouble but she kept going. A large tree had fallen across the trail but a short detour got us around the blockage.
Many thanks to John Gorman who invited us to join his B class ride in beautiful St. Mary's County. At the start, some modifications were made to the route that kept us on shady low-traffic roads, thanks to recommendations from Bob Howell and Walt Roscello. Jim will add the revised route to the club's cue sheet library. Not only was the weather beautiful and the scenery spectacular, but the group stayed together with some spreading out due to hills and wind but regrouped at rest stops. This is a great area for bicycle touring where Amish and Mennonite farms, fields of corn and soybeans, shady roads, lovely views of Breton Bay and an ice cream shop make cycling a joy!
