WE ROLLED THE DICE!
Linda Bankerd, Phil Mitchell, & Tom Roberts, Members, joined me, Sherwood Byers, Ride Leader on this ride. While waiting for the ride to begin, we all studied the skies and looked at the weather radars to see if we could beat the rains. We decided to take the chance.
About 12 miles into the ride I saw rain in the direction of our heading. We pulled over and again studied the weather radars. It was then decided to end the ride and head back. Phil rode his bike to the ride start and decided it was best for him to take the trail home. The rest of us headed to Middletown which was quicker for us.
While on Lexington, I spotted an enormous amount of glass on the shoulder and quickly asked Tom to move over. The glass was spread into the road and I caught a piece in my rear tire which cut it. Tom stayed with me to make the repair while Linda continued. Tom and I said our goodbyes and I headed to 228. Climbing the hill on 228 it began to rain. Linda was waiting at her car for my return.
I don't know if there is a moral to this, but, we should NOT have ROLLED THE DICE!
Thanks to all who rode with me and thank you to Tom for staying with me while I repaired my tire. A flat tire and a bad decision to GAMBLE were the only mishaps to report!
Going forward, I will leave the GAMBLING for the Casinos, that's what they do!
