Report: The original route was 49, and was listed as a low-B/CC+, with just the three of us all at the same speed we traveled at a mid-range B pace. John and Mike (lives in Glen Burnie had never road on southern MD roads ever), figured since we would be so close to Mallows Bay we may as well see it. So we skipped the Friendship Farm break, and went to Mallows Bay to see the view of the sunken ships. Skipped the Nanjemoy store break and kept north on Riverside using Walt’s knowledge of the roads getting us back to Bowie/Gilroy/224 and the last stop at Pisgah Store. As we turned onto Sweetman we saw Jim Hudnall and Ron Altemus as they were going to the store (as part of their published IND-100 preview road making), where Jane and her ride crew were waiting, always nice to see other OHBC members out on a ride. This isn’t an area I go to often, and it was a real treat for Mike to see low-traffic roads. Due to today’s low-temps compared to the past 2 weeks of summer heat in the DC area, today’s ride felt like a paid touring group ride in the Riverside Rd and surrounding area, of course Durham Church Rd early on gets the lungs working. Walt road from his home 6miles away adding on another 12 miles for the day. Mike & I decided to do 3 more to make the even 55.
Just doesn’t get better than a route and weather like it was today!
