Ride leader: Steve Palincsar
Members: Patricia Sanders, Yvonne and Henry Hoyle (with six wheels between them), Ron Altemus and Julia LaCava
Route: As planned, https://ridewithgps.com/routes/11259181 44 mi, 1428' of elevation gain. However, rain caused us to shorten the route. At the intersection with MD-6 we decided to head for Nanjemoy, stopping at the Nanjemoy store. More rain, and not much shelter to be found. After a while it let up a bit and we headed north on Riverside and Sandy Point. At Jacksontown we decided to head back towards Pisgah, but when we reached Gilroy the rain had stopped, so we went down Gilroy and back on Bowie, then turned onto Mason Springs. At Smallwood Church, Ron went left while the rest of us continued on to the park. Total for me, 31.8 mi.
Weather: Overcast and in the 70s at the start. 11 miles into the ride it began to rain. We were only yards from the roofed picnic shelter at Friendship Farm Park when it began, so we quickly rode to the shelter and spent the next half hour watching the hard rain come down. A weather app said there was rain all around our location including red spots indicating hard rain spattered all around Nanjemoy. The rain stopped, started again, became drizzle, and eventually cleared for good as we finished our abbreviated ride.
Mishaps & mechanicals: none.
Jim made a video of the ride, mostly Tom's, but the CC group has a few seconds of screen time too.
