At the Chesapeake Railway Museum
Ride leader: Steve Palincsar
Members: Patricia Sanders, Janell Saunders, Jay Lewis, Mary Scala, Cathy Miller, Sarah Clement, Debby Bowman, Pat Walthers
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31427783 A relatively novel way to North Beach and Chesapeake Beach, starting from Waysons Corner with a planned lengthy stop for lunch at the Chesapeake Market (to give time for the museum to open) and capped with a visit (at last, after all these hundreds of times going through town but never stopping) to the Chesapeake Railway Museum and its fascinating displays of the history of the community at its heyday as a seaside resort.
Weather: basically, a lovely winter day. The forecast said it would be clear and sunny, which it was until perhaps the last hour and a half (at which point it got very overcast and dark), with 5-7 mph winds and temperatures ranging from the high 40s at the start to the mid 50s by mid-afternoon. Thanks to the sun, while we had it, the morning felt warmer than that, but the afternoon felt cooler. Basically, it felt like the low 50s for most of the day.
Mishaps & mechanicals: none
If you haven't been to the museum, you might find this video about the history of Chesapeake Beach of interest. This was a great ride. The route was a lot of fun and so too was the visit to the museum.
