SOUTHERN EXPOSURE: BR 35 LOCUST GROVE>QUAILWOOD 35 mi
Wed January 15, 2020 10:00 AM
Leader: Alan Kurzweil
Members: Don Gardner and Darryl Lowery
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31737622 34.8miles, 1282' elevation gain. Ride was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but I resubmitted it for today to take advantage of the great weather. Thanks to Ron A for the great route.
Weather: Started with on again and off again low clouds and light fog and wet roads, clearing to sunny and dry roads at the finish.
AMS: Leader finished at 14.2 mph, The three of us pretty much stayed within shouting distance the whole ride. Nice!
Mechanicals/Mishaps: Not to us, but came across a man tending to an upset falcon with a probable broken leg. Hope the bird recovers.
Report: At 9:59 AM and 59 seconds I thought I would be riding alone, but Darryl and Don swoop in and to provide enjoyable company, as well as a great workout! The ride was part sociable, catching up with events and plans, and part good workout, as Darryl is trying to use his limited to time to improve fitness. Thanks to stalwart Dash In reporter KM that the Dash In on Oak and St Charles in La Plata was closed for renovations. We stopped at the Exxon down the road for a brief stop. Many thanks to Darryl and Don for the great company on the ride!
