Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31737622 34.8 miles, 1,282' elevation gain. Over to La Plata via Pomfret, Marshall Corner, Valley, Locust Grove, and St Mary's to a rest stop at the Exxon corner of US-301 & Charles Street. Return route using Quailwood, Hawthorne, Ripley, Poorhouse, the Stuckeys, Mason Spring, and Livingston.
Weather: Temps starting in the mid 40s and climbing to the upper 50s, maybe 60. Skies initially were overcast, then the sun came out on Chapel Point, Quailwood had clear blue skies, and from Ripley on, it was overcast again. Steady 7-9 mph wind from the SSW.
AMS: swept in the low 11s. Friends had to have been much faster as the parking lot was empty upon the CC/C contingent's arrival.
Mechanicals/Mishaps: Lou flatted on Pomfret where the IHRT crosses. The sweepers helped him out. Steve located the hole in the tube, Lou correlated it to the tire and in so doing, found the piece of glass causing his distress. Quickly repaired, Lou was back up to speed and soone gone.
Report: Third time was a charm for this route. Posted two times previously when it rained, and not posted for another Tuesday that also had precipitation forecasted. Your faithful correspondent/ride leader was still eager to do the ride, plus cue sheets were already printed, and today it happened. The CC/C duo brought up the rear, only seeing the friends at the rest stop where they kindly waited for our arrival before heading off. Other than Hawthorne, most of the roads were low traffic and the warming temps made for a nice ride.
