Ride leader: Steve Palincsar

Members: Sarah Clement, Sherwood Byers, Ron Altemus and Majesta Hartley

Guests: none

Weather: sunny and breezy for most of the day, mid-50s rising to around 60, but in mid-afternoon the sky clouded over and the wind increased quite a bit, so that our final few miles were riding directly in a stiff wind.

Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31932967  44 miles, 1600' elevation.

Mishaps and mechanicals: none

AMS: 10.5

Majesta happened to be out for a ride and came upon Sherwood on his way to the Sailing Marina.  She was riding a narrow-tired road bike not really suitable for the Towpath, but decided to ride with us as far as Fletchers' Cove, then continue on the CCT to Bethesda while we switched to the Towpath and headed up to Great Falls.  After the break at Great Falls, Ron decided to ride back on the Towpath while Sherwood, Sarah and I took MacArthur Blvd back to the CCT.  Neither Sarah nor Sherwood knew about the neighborhood route through Glen Echo Heights to the paved entrance to the CCT on Brokeway -- in fact, neither knew the entrance existed -- and I can only imagine what they must have been thinking as I approached the cul de sac.

Secret Entrance to the CCT in the cul de sac at the end of Brookeway Dr

Sherwood stopped in West Potomac Park and Sarah and I ended up riding across the 14th St Bridge alone, fighting the wind.
