Leader: Brad Francisco
Members: Blake Altman, Matthew Lewandowski
Route: 52 miles
Weather: Low 70's at start to mid 80's by the end. Light breeze from the SSE
Report: This ride uses a lot of roads that make up our usual stable of rides, but most of the time going in the other direction. It is like riding on completely different roads.
Blake rode to and from the ride, adding another 12 miles or so each way.
Matthew lightened his bike by leaving one water bottle back at his car (on purpose).
The ride leader went the cautious route of carrying two large water bottles. A first in several years. They were just enough.
There were some potholes in spots, but in general the roads were pretty good, very few vehicles out on the road, and an abundance of courtesy shown.
Wildlife - a couple of squirrels, one of which had to make the decision of being run over by an SUV or a bicycle. I don't know how he/she did it, but the squirrel managed to run between my two wheels while I was going almost 20 mph. The other two riders (who were behind me) were amazed.
Not wildlife - a pair of smallish dogs were protecting their homestead and came out in the road to threaten us. Blake gave his rendition of a fierce monster and we rode on.
Pleasant day to be out in the countryside in good company.
