The winds were calm until about 9:45 and then, of course, they picked just in time for the ride. No matter, the wind was at our backs for the first half of the ride – so why worry?
We stayed more or less together for the ride to Cobb Island; there was some splitting and regrouping at the hills.
Once we got to Cobb Island we took a break at the store and (as usual) decided to forego the island “tour”. Our average at the turn-around point was 19.0 MPH. After the break the ride really started since now we were into the wind; the first part of the ride was just a warm-up with the wind at our backs.
We all stayed together until the hill on Rock Point road. After that the ride split and never regrouped. By the end of the ride we had 3 or even 4 “groups”.
I have to say the Training aspect of the ride was a failure since we did not ride and work together as a group throughout the ride. It was still an enjoyable ride and despite some wind the weather was really great for a winter ride.
