Leader: Ron Altemus
Members: Kevin Foley, Donaro Gardner, and Larry Peed present at Livingston Road only (see below)
Guests: Erick Satchell
Route: Indian Head Rail Trail, Livingston Rd parking lot to White Plains and return
Weather: Plenty of sunshine, temperatures in the low 30s, and NW winds 12-15 mph which made for a terrific tailwind to White Plains, a bit of a slog at times returning to Livingston Rd.
AMS: swept at 13
Mechanicals/Mishaps: Larry arrived a bit early so took off riding and suffered a flat a mile or so east of the parking lot. He walked back and met us as we were headed out. Given the cold conditions and his tubeless tires/wheels, repairs were not going to be attempted until he was in warmer surroundings.
Later, after crossing Middletown first, Erick turned back to see if the rest of us made it and the fence jumped out in front of him, causing a minor collision. A bit of straightening of the handlebars and he was back riding quickly.
Report: A surprisingly "large" turnout given the temperatures. I think most of us would agree that it wasn't that cold nor that windy. We saw maybe a half dozen walkers on the trail (mainly at the White Plains end) but no other cyclists. No wildlife either.
