This route was a bit of a variation on my normal rides in this area to avoid the closed section of Riverside Road. In my opinion, the route was fine but not any better than other ones in the area.
I was very glad to see Diane at the ride start when I pulled up because: 1) I always enjoy her company and riding with her and 2) I wasn’t sure that Brad would come due to his crash the day before. No worries though, Brad pulled-up shortly thereafter.
We had a bit of a chat at the start and then headed out. We started the ride working and staying together with each of us taking turns at the front; the ride remained that way throughout.
We took a longish break at the Nanjemoy store after which I didn’t feel too good – just a bit stiff and slow; I soon loosened-up. Once we reached Riverside Road we had a very nice ride mostly courtesy of Brad who did a long pull at the front.
We soon returned to the start without any issues like what happened on Brad’s ride the day before. After we got back we sat in the shade and talked some more. Jay Lewis stopped by to say hi on his way back to the start of his ride. Today’s ride was a real gem – thanks for joining me Diane and Brad.
P.S. Brad informed me that Diane scored a QOM and many PRs on Strava for the day – way to go Diane!
